By bonding fabric layers and reinforcing details like brims, flaps, and pockets with heat rather than thread, LOXY® Bonding film keeps seams waterproof while making the finished garment noticeably lighter and more comfortable to wear.

What is LOXY® Bonding film?
It’s a thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) hotmelt film used to bond fabric layers and garment details without stitching. It adds stability, keeps seams waterproof, and reduces overall garment weight compared to traditional sewn construction.
What is LOXY® Bonding film used for?
It’s commonly used in sportswear, base layers, lingerie and swimwear, medical textiles, workwear, bags, tents, and zippers. Just anywhere a seamless, stitch-free construction improves comfort, flexibility, or waterproofing.
How is bonding film different from sewing a seam?
Bonding film is heat-applied rather than stitched, so there are no needle holes for water to pass through. This keeps the seam waterproof, adds mechanical stability to details like brims and flaps, and makes the finished garment lighter.
Is LOXY® Bonding film waterproof?
Yes. Because bonded seams don’t require stitching, they avoid the needle perforations that let water through, making bonded construction a preferred method for waterproof or water-resistant garments.
Which LOXY® Bonding film should I choose?
It depends on the application. LB400 is extremely elastic and built for underwear and lingerie, withstanding up to 100 washes at 60°C. LB800 is rated for 75°C industrial wash, making it suited to workwear. LB900ECO is a biobased option (61% bio-based content) for sustainability-focused sportswear lines. LB500, LB600, and LB700 cover general-purpose to specialty bonding (soft touch, all-round, and double-layer for pockets/zippers respectively). Our technical team can recommend the right variant based on your fabric and end use.
What wash temperatures can bonded garments withstand?
It depends on the film. LB400, LB500, LB600, LB700, and LB900ECO are rated for domestic wash up to 60°C (ISO 6330); LB400 is specifically tested to withstand up to 100 wash cycles at that temperature. LB800 is rated for industrial wash up to 75°C (ISO 15797), for workwear applications with higher hygiene or laundering demands.
Are LOXY® Bonding films certified safe for skin contact?
Yes. All current LOXY® Bonding films are certified to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, Class 1 which is the strictest class, covering products intended for direct and prolonged skin contact, including babywear.
Is there a sustainable or eco-friendly bonding film option?
Yes, LB900ECO is a 100% solvent-free TPU film with 61% bio-based content, offering the same adhesive performance with a reduced environmental footprint. The wider range is also solvent-free TPU, and LB600 additionally skips a paper carrier to reduce material waste.
What application settings are recommended for LOXY® Bonding films?
Most variants run at 150–200°C for 15–30 seconds at 3–4 bar pressure; LB600 uses a slightly lower application temperature of 130–140°C. Exact settings vary by fabric and equipment, so we recommend testing on your own fabric samples before bulk production.
